Hey there, This post is mostly just for me. I’m celebrating Pet Memorial Day, which is a Mexican custom to remember our passed away pets. My official DWZ - The German Elo

Greetings everyone!

You heard it right, I now have a DWZ.
What’s that you’re asking? Well the strength of a player in chess is measured by something called Elo.
It estimates just how strong a player really is.

You can get that by playing online, but those ratings oftentimes don’t reflect your real strength.
What do I mean by that? My rapid elo on chess.com is around 800 while on lichess I’m around 1200 in the same format.

Current project

First of all, I did not forgot about the project for march. Funny thing is, I accidentally tested all of the playbooks I have by now.

You may know that I had two systems running on my main PC. Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Arch, from which I mainly used Arch.

Because of that, I only had limited disk space on my SSD which caused some problems. For example, I had to change the location of podman images and volumes to my HDD, which for some reason caused DNS issues between containers in the same network.

Short introduction

So you’re back at my blog? I see. Well… too bad! Now you’re gonna hear me yapping about one of my favorite music artists. Her artist name is Ronan Fae, but due to simplicity I will just call her Ronja here, since that’s how I got to know here.

The goal of Februrary.

As you may know, my goal for Februrary was to write documentation for, at this time existing, Repositories.

I come originally from IT Support, so I know just how important documentation is.

Introduction

Yes, you heard it right. This was the most important tournament I’ve played so far.

Not because of me, but because of the Club I’m in.
As far as I’m concerned, this tournament decided if we stay in our current class or if we go down.

Time and moves

In total I played a bit more then 2 hours with a total of 62 move pairs, meaning me and my opponent played that each.

Migrating from Elfsight to Ghost

Chess journey

Introduction

A lot of things have changed and I’m writing this at 11 pm with a monster energy on my right (not sponsored lol).

Chess

First of all, the most important topic, chess. I had my third chess tournament last Sunday. This time I played in the A Class (normally I play in B class) so my opponent was significantly stronger then I am. I think he was around 1350 ish? Anyway, the game started and I was unhappy from the start. My opponent neutrilized the movement of my knight and bishop quite quickly and I was defending myself the whole game. But after managing to trade queens I offered a draw, which he accepted. That was luck since the engine showed that it was around +4.6 for my opponent when I put the game into the computer afterwards. Now I only need to play 4 more games to get a DWZ, the official german Elo. Also I bought a chess clock, the DGT 3000 Limited edition to be exact, so it’s easier for me to prep for over the board tournaments.

I’m trying to push more code this year while learning more. Currently I’m testing the Zed IDE so stay tuned for my opinion as a long time VSCodium user.
