The controller responsible for data processing on this website under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

2. Summary

This is a purely static, personal website. There are no user accounts, no contact forms, no newsletter, no analytics or tracking tools, no advertising, and this website sets no cookies (for embedded videos, see section 5). Fonts and scripts are not loaded from third-party servers.

3. Hosting

This website is served by Codeberg Pages, provided by Codeberg e. V., Arminiusstraße 2 - 4, 10551 Berlin, Germany.

When you visit the website, the host processes technical data that your browser sends automatically:

  • IP address
  • date and time of access
  • requested page or file
  • referrer URL (the page you came from)
  • browser and operating system

This data is needed to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable (e.g. to fend off attacks). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website. According to Codeberg, IP addresses are truncated in log files and technical metadata is kept for no longer than 7 days. See Codeberg’s privacy policy for details.

4. Local storage (light/dark mode)

If you switch between the light and dark theme using the toggle, this setting is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage) under the key theme, so it is kept for your next visit. This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us or to third parties.

It is only stored after you actively use the toggle and is strictly necessary for the feature you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

5. Embedded videos (YouTube)

Some posts contain videos from YouTube, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

The videos are only loaded after you click “Load video”. Before that, no connection to YouTube is made. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). After the click, your browser connects directly to YouTube’s/Google’s servers, which receive in particular your IP address, browser information and the page you are viewing. YouTube may use cookies or similar technologies, at the latest when you play the video. We have no influence on how Google processes this data afterwards.

Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). Your consent only applies to the current page view and is not stored. See Google’s privacy policy for details.

6. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR or, if your request relates to a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data is deleted once it is no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

This website contains links to external services (e.g. Codeberg, Mastodon or my donation page). Data is only sent to the respective provider when you click such a link; their privacy policy then applies.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right at any time to:

  • access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • rectification of incorrect data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
  • object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR)

To do so, simply contact the email address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement.
